Early on as a prep player, he emerged as a skilled post player who wasn’t exactly the most athletic guy in the world, but got the job done due to his footwork and basketball IQ. A 6-foot-10, 250-pound forward from Washington, Banchero has just methodically gotten better throughout his career. Heading into the event, all eyes were on Duke’s Paolo Banchero, one of the clear top prospects in college basketball. So in that vein, here is a wide-ranging scouting notebook, with notes on many of the prospects in attendance. This year was no different, as the event had six players that I had ranked as first-round prospects in the preseason, and a bunch of others that were of interest to evaluators. Every year, the Champions Classic is one of the biggest events that NBA scouts flock to in order to get eyes on a wide number of elite prospects.
